LG VX8300 – Tips and Tricks

The VX series of LG phones has established a reputation for their high multimedia and very modern, and the VX 8300 is no different amalgamating a lot of brilliant multimedia features like mega pixel cameras, superior MP3 qualities and obviously camcorder capabilities.

On the connectivity front, the phone has EV-DO high-speed internet capabilities, which will make it one of the good phones on the move. The overall design of the phone is on the conservative side and will make people who are not comfortable with a prominent antenna in their mobile phone design, keep away from the phone. Some quick-access buttons on the side of the phone that can be operated even with the flip closed, is a very notable feature that will find a favor for many users.

The 1.3 mega pixel camera clicks decent images, but the video clip recording was quite grainy and found in many aspects, including screen resolution. A phone whose design will catch your eye and features will impress you but may make you think real hard before you decide to buy this phone.

What are the “Quick Access” features of the LGVX8300?

The features of this phone that can be conveniently accessed with fewer numbers of keys are known as “Quick Access” features. In an LGVX8300, the following features are available for “fast access”.

To set the vibration of the phone – From the regular ringer mode, if you want to shift to the vibration mode, press the * key and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat the same to return to ringer mode.

To lock your phone – To lock your phone in an instant to make it inaccessible for unauthorized entry, press and hold the # key for three seconds. To unlock, select the soft key right and enter the password. The default password to lock your phone is the last digits of your mobile number.

O To activate the mute function – the mute function prevents the caller from listening to your voice during a call. Press the soft key to the left to activate it. Press the same key again to deactivate.

O To adjust the volume of the phone – quick adjustments to the volume of earpiece and rings can be made by pressing the keys on the left side of the phone. The side key on top increases ringer volume and the lower side key reduces ringer volume. The volume of the earpiece can be increased or decreased only while a call is in progress. To disable all sounds simultaneously, select and hold the lower side key for 3 seconds with the flip open. Return to normal mode by doing the same with the upper side key.

To switch between calls – this is a dependent-dependent function. So if the call waiting is activated, a beep is heard during one call indicating another incoming call and this call is received by pressing the left “send” key while holding the previous call. After attending the second call, if you do the same again, you will return to the previous call.

How to set the display settings on the LGVX8300 phone?

The display settings help you to modify the display features of the screen of the phone like flag, wallpaper, fonts, themes, clock format and backlight.

All of the above features can be accessed via a sub-menu under DISPLAY SETTINGS as part of the SETTINGS AND TOOLS icon in the main menu.

Banner

Under the sub-menu displays settings, enter the BANNER menu and select the option MAIN / FRONT BANNER and enter your own text in the space provided and once finished, press OK.

ERI BANNER

The ERI BANNER will be displayed if you use the ERI service. Use the up and down navigation buttons to scroll through the options and select OK to select one.

Wallpaper

With this option you can have a background of your choice on the display screen of the phone. There are many colorful and exciting options, including animations. To set Wallpaper, from the Wallpaper sub-menu, select the main / front Wallpaper and you can browse the various images in my pics or my flicks or fund animations.

FONTS

The option allows you to choose between standard fonts or as some people would like it, great.

Themes

The setting allows you to choose the color scheme of the display screen of the phone. Some of the display theme options available in this phone are: DEFAULT / PULSE / TROPICAL / SILVER SPIN / BLUE

Clock size

With these options you can choose the type of clock to be displayed on the screen. There are two clocks for the screen – the main clock – which will have options of NORMAL or ANALOG or DIGITAL or DUAL or OFF. For the front clock, you can choose between digital or minimize or off. All options can be set via the sub-menu Clock format.

BACKLIGHT

With this option you choose the time during which the backlight remains illuminated. The settings should be set individually for the keypad, front screen and main screen. Enter the BACKLIGHT sub-menu for each of the settings and enter the DISPLAY / KEYPAD option. You can choose the backlight to be always on or always off. There is also another option for time to display in 5 seconds, 15 seconds or 30 seconds.

How to set and use the sound settings on the LGVX8300?

The sound settings provide options to set and modify the different sound of the phone. The SOUND SETTINGS menu is a sub-menu of SETTINGS AND TOOLS. Under the sub-menu, there are options to modify master volume, alert sounds, keypad volume, service alerts, call sounds, alarm sounds and power on / off sounds.

Master volume

With this you can determine the master volume of the handset. Once in the menu, the volume can be adjusted with the navigation keys up and down and choose OK to save a volume. On each level, the soft key on the left reminds game and allows you to preview the volume on that level.

Call sounds

With this option you can set the ring tone for all incoming calls. Enter the CALL RINGTONE sub-menu, select between CALLER ID / NO CALLER ID / RESTRICTED CALLS or NO CALLS and then go up and down using the navigation keys and select the ringtone you like, and press OK.

To set the vibrate mode on the phone, enter the CUB VIBRATE sub-menu and select either on or off

Nimble sound

With this feature you can set alert sounds for new messages of all kinds like text message, picture message and voicemail message. Once in the sub-menu, if you scroll up and down and pressing OK, you can save the sound. Each of the alert sounds can have options of note, vibrate or reminder.

Service alerts

Thereby you can set each of the four alert features to on or off. Enter the sub-menu and choose one of the alert features

o ERI – Cellular Service Alert

o MINUTE BEEP – Alerts you within 50 seconds of every minute of each ongoing call

o CALL CONNECT – Alerts you when the phone connects to a call

ALARM SOUNDS

With this option you can set tones or choose the vibration mode. From the ALARM SOUNDS sub-menu, select TONE or VIBRATE. And using the navigation button up and down, select the setting and save it by selecting OK.

Power on / off sounds

Similar to other sound options, enter the POWER ON / OFF sub-menu and use the navigation keys to select a tone that will be sound every time the phone turns on and off.

How to access and use the phone book in the LGVX8300?

The phone has the capacity to store 500 entries in the phone book with up to 5 numbers for each item.

Storage numbers:

You can enter up to 48 digits for a telephone number and press the soft key on the left mentioned ‘SAVE’.

2. Now use the up and down navigation button to select CREATE NEW or UPDATE EXISTING.

3. Again use the up and down key to choose between mobile 1, mobile 2, home, work and fax.

4. Now enter a name against the phone up to a maximum of 22 characters and choose OK.

5. Finally choose to print send to call, finish to exit and right soft key for options.

Customize each entry:

Select the right soft key to enter contacts and left soft key to get to edit mode. Now use the up and down key to select each of the features to be customized. Change the entries as you go and select OK when you want to save a particular feature setting.

GROUP – Let you organize numbers into pre-defined groups

Call Ringtone – lets you assign a specific ringtone to a number

TXT MSG ALERT – Alerts you in the selected note when you receive a text message of this particular number

Picture ID – lets you assign a picture to be displayed when the number calls you

EMAIL – You can assign an e-mail ID corresponding to the number

Search phone memory:

With this phone you can perform a dynamic search of the contents of the phone and display them alphabetically or sorted by letters.

If you select the contacts from the right software, you can see the entries of the phone book in alphabetical order. Now, if you want to search names in a particular letter, enter the search letter and the screen will immediately throw up all names starting with that letter. By both option, scrolling up and down using the navigation keys help you zero down the name you were searching for.
